Evac HD – Le Test Android-France
Tiens, ton nom me dit quelque chose…
Un test de jeu, ça faisait longtemps. Et puis celui-là , je vous l’avais promis.
Les petits gars de Hexage à qui l’on doit déjà Radiant, Totemo et le plus réfléchi Everlands sont de retours avec Evac et Evac HD. Comme je l’avais noté lors de la news, il est d’emblée possible de saluer leur effort de proposer une version adaptée aux petites résolutions et une version qui conviendra plus aux Desire/X10/Galaxy S avec 2 jeux sur le market.
Pac Man boosté aux hormones
Je vous le dis clairement : je déteste Mario et ses 2 possibilités d’action, je m’ennuie sur Pac Man dès le premier niveau et j’ai du mal avec la lenteur de Space Invaders. Je préfère de loin les oldies qui ne vieillissent pas au niveau du gameplay, style jeu d’aventure. Et Hexage a l’air de s’adresser aux joueurs comme moi : ils subliment les vieux hits en leur donnant des graphismes, une vitesse et un gameplay dignes du XXIe.
Avec Radiant, c’était Space Invaders qui était revu et corrigé, avec un scénario loufoque, une dizaine d’armes, des boss, des phases de pilotage dans des champs d’astéroïdes… le tout en gardant un style épuré, parce que quand même, on ne le dira jamais assez, less is more.
Un carré rose est planqué sur ce screen, saurez-vous le retrouver ? Eux non plus.
Avec Evac, Hexage s’attaque à Pac Man. Au lieu d’incarner une boule jaune toxico, on incarne un petit carré rose au service d’un grand carré jaune qui doit voler les couleurs gardées par de méchants carrés rouges, armée d’un immense carré violet. On dirait pas comme ça, mais tout le jeu est plein de poésie et d’humour, autant sur la quête des couleurs que sur les messages du grand méchant qui tantôt oublie de finir un niveau, tantôt nous incite à marcher sur des alarmes… D’ailleurs, il ne croît pas du tout en notre capacité à voler ses points de couleur et va déchaîner ses armées contre nous. Rien que ça.
Hexage toujours en poésie et en humour
And now, I’m stuck forever.
Au niveau du gameplay, la base est simple : un stick virtuel déplaçable sur l’écran vous permet d’aller dans toutes les directions. Il faut prendre le coup de main, et les premières minutes de jeu seront assez pénibles, on finira bien souvent dans un mur, incapable de viser le tunnel. Passé ce stade, la possibilité de changer le stick de place nous permet d’adapter notre façon de jouer selon les niveaux : besoin d’un maximum de visibilité ? Hop, sur les coins. Besoin de se déplacer rapidement ? On privilégiera une partie plus centrale de l’écran.

Là où ça se complique, c’est que Evac n’est pas simplement un Pac Man HD. Il faudra par exemple résoudre des puzzles à base de déplacement de briques (vous savez, le genre de jeu arrache-cheveux où un déplacement en trop vous bloquera dans un angle) pour débloquer des items spéciaux. Fort heureusement, si vous n’avez pas envie de réfléchir, il reste la solution du bourrin : on zappe la réflexion, on fonce dans l’arène, et on se débrouille comme on peut sans les bonus.
Carnage !
Pour l’instant, j’ai eu trois types de bonus différents : l’éclair qui paralyse pour un moment vos poursuivants, le fantôme qui vous permet de passer outre les ennemis et les barrières et un équivalent pacmanesque de l’étoile de Mario Kart : immunité et destruction des ennemis par paquet de 12, vous permettant de jolis combos pour faire péter les high-scores.
Ajoutez à tout cela des pièges, des alarmes, des carrés ennemis qui réagissent de façon différente chaque fois, pouvant même s’organiser en groupe, des trappes pour vous cacher et j’en passe, et vous avez un véritable jeu d’infiltration/action/casse-tête qui vous occupera pendant de longues minutes ou de longues heures selon votre persévérance à remporter tous les mini-défis.
Alors, est-ce qu’on s’amuse avec tout ça ? Oui, oui, trois fois oui. Le jeu est assez varié et le gameplay assez frénétique pour contenter les joueurs les plus exigeants. Parfois même, la difficulté est très corsée et on se prend à recommencer le niveau plusieurs fois pour réussir chaque action avec un meilleur timing. Je ne saurai me prononcer sur la rejouabilité d’un tel titre, ne l’ayant que depuis une petite semaine sous les doigts, mais l’amélioration des high scores par des petits jeux est un challenge qui ne sera pas forcément à la portée d’un débutant.

Pour conclure, on peut dire que Hexage n’en est pas à son coup d’essai et réalise encore un coup de maître sous Android. Le jeu est plaisant, varié, drôle et bien fini. Je pensais lui enlever une étoile pour sa difficulté, car ce jeu qui vise le joueur du métro peut devenir assez prise de tête par moment, ce qui n’est pas vraiment le but souhaité. Mais je pensais aussi lui mettre une étoile bonus pour sa double version, donc l’un dans l’autre, on atteint quand même les 5 étoiles. Après tout, si ce n’est pas eux qui les ont, qui les auraient ? Foncez !

Une version française aurait été la bienvenue. Peu être comme d’autres de leurs jeux cela arrivera avec une mise a jour.
